Mediation has been around for a long time and has routes that can be traced back more than 3000 years. Although it has been widely adopted within the legal framework in America and Australia for decades, it is a relatively new concept here in the UK in legal terms. It has only really become a main topic of conversation over the last 10-15 years or so.

Within the Family Courts Family Mediation has now become very much the front and centre of dispute resolution and now a required consideration before court proceedings can take place. The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) is a driving force behind this so as to support reducing the extended delays presently experienced.
