‘Yes, We Are Registered to the Scheme’
Can You Get £500 Towards your Mediation?
This Ministry of Justice .Gov page linked above provides the full details the scheme and gives other useful information about mediation. We would encourage you to read that to get an understanding of how it works.
There are three key takeaway points to note about the scheme that you will need to know:
The mediation must be child focused. This means that the core issues must be based on matters around a child, residency, parental responsibilities, holiday arrangements etc. The scheme may also cover financials, as long as the financial issues have a connection to a child matter.
The scheme is ONLY for mediation. It does not cover the costs for your MIAM, the initial Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting. You will have to pay that cost yourself. Please Note; that the .Gov page gives a suggestion of the cost of a MIAM. That is not an accurate reflection and falls below what would be considered an industry average. It is a conservative estimate and outdated, the page was last updated April 2021.
Finally, you will be please to know that to apply for the scheme you do not need to do anything yourself. No forms, nothing to prove and no time spent on it. Your mediator will be able to advise you if the scheme is applicable to you and apply on your behalf.
If you have any questions about the scheme please do contact us and ask.
