Step by Step Guide

Step 1 – Contact Us

You are welcome to contact us by email on enquiries@phoenixfamily.uk. Initial contact will be made with you and we will request the contact details of the other party so we can contact them too after step 2 below.

Step 2 – MIAM

We will then set up an individual Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) for you and the other party to attend and meet with our specialist Accredited Family Lawyer Mediator.

At the assessment you will find out more about Family Mediation and take some basic information on what your main points of concern are as well as providing you with information on how the Mediation process works.  This can assist in costs, time and can help in moving things along quicker.

Following the assessment our Mediator will discuss with you whether mediation would be suitable in your case and guide you to the next step.

After the MIAM meeting:-

  1. If our Mediator feels mediation is suitable and as long as you are happy to engage in the process we will then proceed to Step 3 below.
  2. If Mediation is unsuitable or unable to proceed for another reason our Mediator will guide you as to the next steps.
  3. If you are considering any Court application, for example, for a family matter such as financial issues or child contact arrangements, the Court require you to consider Mediation first before allowing an application to be processed. This is always the case unless there are exceptional circumstances.

By attending a MIAM you will have satisfied this requirement and our Mediator will be able to sign and endorse any Court application for you.
